We're hiring

Build the companies
that change industries.

AlphaMakina is a small, deliberate team. We don't hire to fill headcount. We hire when we find someone exceptional. If that's you, we want to know about it.

How we work

A studio built on
craft, alignment, and honesty.

Builders, not advisors

Every person here has a functional output. We ship products, build brands, and close deals. We don't hold workshops or write strategy decks that never become anything.

Radically aligned incentives

Our revenue-share model means the whole studio wins when portfolio companies win. Your work has a direct line to our collective success, and you'll feel it.

Small on purpose

We could take on more companies and hire faster. We choose not to. Staying small keeps the work excellent and the team close. We add people when we find the right ones.

Honest about everything

We tell founders when their ideas won't work. We tell each other when something isn't good enough. Directness is a form of respect here, not a personality flaw.

What we offer

The work is the reward. Everything else is a bonus.

We're not going to pad this list with bean bags and kombucha. Here's what we actually offer.

Competitive salary + studio bonus

Market-rate base salary benchmarked annually. A studio-wide bonus pool tied to portfolio revenue, so when the companies grow, everyone earns more.

Remote-first, async-friendly

Work from anywhere. Core overlap hours of 10am–3pm ET on weekdays. No mandatory daily standups. We measure output, not presence.

Four-day week on Fridays

Fridays are optional and self-directed. Use them for deep work, learning, or don't log on at all. No expectation, no tracking, no guilt.

Learning & development budget

$2,500 per year for courses, conferences, books, or tools. No approval process for purchases under $500. Just spend it and learn.

Equity in select portfolio companies

Senior hires and long-tenure team members may be offered a small equity stake in one or more portfolio companies. Details disclosed during the offer stage.

Hardware & home office stipend

$1,500 on joining for your home office setup. MacBook Pro as standard. Upgrade cycle every three years with no questions asked.

Open roles

Six roles open across engineering, design, and commercial. Every role is remote-eligible.

Senior AI Engineer
Engineering Full-time Remote · Canada / UK
The role

You'll be the technical lead on two to three portfolio company builds at any given time, owning the AI architecture end to end, from LLM selection and prompt engineering through to production deployment and ongoing maintenance. This is a hands-on engineering role, not a technical advisor position.

What you'll do
  • Design and build LLM-powered products using Claude, Gemini, and GPT-4
  • Architect RAG pipelines, agent systems, and fine-tuned workflows
  • Own production deployments and performance monitoring
  • Work directly with founders to translate domain problems into technical solutions
  • Contribute to the studio's internal AI tooling and prompt library
What we're looking for
  • 4+ years in software engineering, with 2+ years working with LLMs in production
  • Strong Python. FastAPI, LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar
  • Experience shipping AI products to real users, not just prototypes
  • Comfort with ambiguity. You'll often be the first engineer on a problem
  • Genuine curiosity about the domain problems our founders bring

Full-Stack Engineer
Engineering Full-time Remote · Worldwide
The role

You'll build the product interfaces, integrations, and APIs that sit on top of our AI layer, turning raw LLM capability into usable, polished products that domain experts and their customers actually enjoy. You care as much about the user experience as the underlying code.

  • Build and maintain web applications using React, Next.js, or similar
  • Develop RESTful APIs and backend services in Python or Node.js
  • Integrate AI endpoints into clean, intuitive user interfaces
  • Work across multiple portfolio products simultaneously
  • Contribute to code reviews, testing, and deployment pipelines
What we're looking for
  • 3+ years building full-stack web applications in production
  • Strong React and TypeScript. You write clean, maintainable components
  • Solid backend fundamentals: databases, APIs, authentication
  • Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, GCP, or Vercel
  • An eye for design. You push back when something looks wrong

Product Designer
Design Full-time Remote · Canada / UK
The role

You'll design the end-to-end product experience for portfolio companies, from initial UX research and wireframes through to polished, production-ready UI. You'll also contribute to brand identity work alongside our creative director, shaping how each company looks and feels to the world.

What you'll do
  • Lead UX research and user journey mapping for new products
  • Design high-fidelity UI in Figma: components, flows, and prototypes
  • Work closely with engineers to ensure pixel-accurate implementation
  • Contribute to brand identity projects: visual language, type, colour
  • Build and maintain design systems across the portfolio
What we're looking for
  • 3+ years in product design, ideally at an early-stage company
  • A portfolio that shows both systems thinking and craft detail
  • Strong Figma skills: auto-layout, variants, components, prototyping
  • Comfort designing for AI-powered interfaces and novel interaction patterns
  • Enough brand sensibility to contribute meaningfully to identity work

Growth Marketing Lead
Commercial Full-time Remote · Worldwide
The role

You'll run growth for two to three portfolio companies simultaneously, owning everything from positioning and messaging to paid channels, content strategy, and conversion optimisation. You'll work directly with founders, which means you need to be as good at communication as you are at performance marketing.

What you'll do
  • Build and execute multi-channel acquisition strategies for B2B AI products
  • Own paid media — Google, LinkedIn, and industry-specific channels
  • Develop content calendars and execute SEO and thought leadership
  • Design and run conversion optimisation experiments
  • Report on CAC, LTV, and channel ROI, clearly and regularly
What we're looking for
  • 4+ years in B2B growth or performance marketing
  • Track record of taking a product from 0 to meaningful revenue
  • Strong analytical instincts. You know which numbers matter
  • Excellent written communication. You'll write copy, briefs, and reports
  • Experience with vertical SaaS, professional services, or AI tools
Salary: $95K–$120K CAD · Remote · Starts Q3 2026

Venture Development Manager
Commercial Full-time Toronto or London
The role

You'll manage the end-to-end founder relationship for a cohort of portfolio companies, from onboarding through to revenue scale. This is a hybrid commercial and operational role: part account manager, part business development, part startup mentor. You'll be the daily point of contact for founders and the person responsible for keeping builds on track.

What you'll do
  • Own the day-to-day relationship with 4–6 portfolio founders
  • Track milestones, surface blockers, and keep builds moving
  • Support founders in opening doors to customers and partners
  • Conduct monthly performance reviews and flag strategic risks
  • Contribute to the vetting and onboarding of new cohort applicants
What we're looking for
  • 5+ years in venture building, consulting, or startup operations
  • Strong commercial instincts. You understand what drives revenue
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders simultaneously
  • Calm under pressure — early-stage builds are inherently messy
  • Genuine interest in AI and what it can do for specific industries

Studio Operations Manager
Operations Full-time Remote · Canada / UK
The role

You'll run the internal operating system of AlphaMakina — the processes, tooling, and rhythm that let a small team do the work of a much larger one. This is a new role created because we've grown to the point where we need someone whose entire job is making the studio itself run well.

What you'll do
  • Design and maintain studio-wide processes: onboarding, project tracking, reporting
  • Own internal tooling: Notion, Linear, Slack, and any replacements
  • Manage vendor relationships and procurement
  • Support hiring: coordinating interviews, managing pipelines, onboarding new hires
  • Handle finance administration in coordination with external accountants
What we're looking for
  • 3+ years in an operations or chief-of-staff role at a startup or agency
  • A process-builder. You don't just follow systems, you design them
  • Highly organised with strong written communication
  • Comfortable owning things end-to-end with minimal oversight
  • A genuine interest in the studio model and what we're building
